Waterpark Fun!

This past Sunday I made an executive decision to enact the Perry Family Forgotten Fun Treatise, or PFFFT! We hadn’t had a fun family outing just the three of us in a long while. So Mommy and Daddy sat down and weighed our choice of destinations. We narrowed it down to the Eddyville Waterpark or Nashville Zoo. Realizing that I still haven’t fixed the car’s A/C drain, we opted for the nearer destination of Venture River Waterpark in Eddyville, KY, and saved the Nashville Zoo for next time.

4 hours later (Hey, it’s no easy task getting the three of us from pajamas and puffy eyes to packed and out the door.), we arrived at the waterpark ready to tear it up! It was Liam’s first time, although he had been to the city pool many times last year, and he absolutely LOVED it! We were a bit worried, at first, that he might not enjoy the slides and we’d spend most of the day in the wave pool or the lazy river. Mind you, that wouldn’t have been bad at all, as Mommy and Daddy thoroughly enjoyed simply relaxing in the sun. As we approached the top of his first-ever water slide, we almost turned back, as he was obviously a bit nervous about it all. But once we hit the bottom, Liam tore up and out of the catch pool and ran headlong, without waiting for Mommy or Daddy, right back to the top of the hill, ready to go again! Daddy’s little waterbug.

So here are a few of the pics we took while there. The rest are on our SmugMug album here, and you can always check out all our pics by visiting perryfamily.smugmug.com, or the Photos button at the top of the page. Enjoy!

Next time we’ll have shots from Liam’s first trip to the zoo. I just hope he doesn’t get confused for a monkey!

Tweet, tweet

So I’ve added a twitter feed to the site. *yay* I’ll try to keep up with it better than I do posting. It’ll also automatically tweet when I post to the site, which is pimp. Check out my twitter page and be my friend!

Busy busy bees

I’m continuously getting chastised for not posting more often. So today you get a post and a site facelift. I’m working to make my layout more universal, so I can change the look more often without having to re-code all my little nuances into a new theme. In the interim, I’m going with the highly customizable Mandigo theme. Whaddya think?

Work’s been a bit busy lately. As we near the end of the fiscal year everyone’s rushing about trying to make sure their accounts are all balanced and projects have been completed, invoiced, and paid. I, myself, have three rather large projects on the table that won’t be anywhere near finished by July 1, so I’m trying to make certain I’ve bought and paid for absolutely everything I need before then. That can be rough. Also, I recently began to clean my office. This is a task so grand in its undertaking it may well be stated we’ll have peace in the middle east before I’m done. But at least I can see my desk now.

In the off-hours I’m cramming for my CCNA exam, something I should’ve taken years ago, but never really wanted to pay for myself, and working with an MSU professor to develop a lab curriculum for the Wireless TSM classes. It was definitely an honor to be asked to participate in this, and it will be wonderful to have my name on a lab manual produced by a university.

Add to that my plan for upgrading the operating system in every single access point on campus this summer and migration of them all to a new management system, a system I need to find an available week to attend training for somewhere out in the wild yonder, and the new, fully-wireless residential college coming online in the coming months, and I’m a tad overwhelmed.

Also, I have a wife and child somewhere that it would be nice to see. To think I thought that by not taking any classes, I’d have a relaxing summer. Riiiiiiight.
