Windows Vista Autotuning

There are several compatibility issues with Vista’s new autotuning feature. Many websites or services will be extremely slow to connect while some won’t work at all. Until Microsoft is able to address the incompatibility, they recommend disabling autotuning by doing the following.

1. Open an elevated Command Prompt. (Do this by right-clicking the command prompt icon under Start>All Programs>Accessories and choosing “Run as Administrator.”)

2. Type the following command into the command prompt, then press enter:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

3.Close the command prompt by typing exit and pressing enter.

Once this has been performed, network connectivity should return to normal. If you have any further questions regarding this issue or the workaround procedure, please call the helpdesk at 809-2346.
