Number 21 in line. They had 20 in stock. Suck.
It wouldn’t have been quite so bad if every one of my coworkers hadn’t gotten theirs. Even the guy who just bought one because the rest of us did. (He actually asked, “What’s 3G?” THIS FROM AN I.T. GUY!!!)
It is, however, of slight amusement that none of their respective 3G iPhones are working yet. In fact, almost none of the iPhones sold today worldwide are working yet. Thanks, crashy iTunes Store. Ah, well. I’ll get my new iPhone 3G eventually. :(

W00t! Today is new iPhone day for Drew. Which is awesome because it’s also iPhone 3G day! And iPhone 2.0 day for Missy! Ooh, and iPhone iTunes remote day! And what the hey, let’s make it iPod touch 2.0 day, as well! So while I go stand in line like a dork at 7 AM, you go celebrate and get some apps!

Today’s the day Firefox 3 gets its official release and they’re looking to set a Guinness world record for the most downloads in a single day. Help ‘em and yourself out at the same time. Try out Firefox 3. I’m betting you won’t be disappointed.

Once more into the breach, dear friends! Or close up the wall with our Orcish dead!
It looks as though I’m once again crazy enough to roll up a new character in World of Warcraft. I can’t help it. It’s really a fun game. I’m sure once I get my new Blood Elf Hunter up past 40 I’ll get tired of it and let my account lapse. But it’s fun while it lasts. This is my first time playing Horde. I’ve always stuck to the warm hearths of the Alliance before. Who knows, maybe I’ll roll up an Orc next. Nah, probably a Tauren. Moo! I’m on Onyxia, if anyone wants to play. Join my guild, the Knetwork Knights. Man, I’m such a geek.

Digsby, the instant messenging client I’ve been using in private beta for a month or so went into public beta today. It’s similar to Trillian and Pidgin in that it supports all of the major IM protocols, MSN, AOL, Yahoo, etc. But it also connects to Facebook, MySpace, GMail and many other services to give you status updates and message notifications. I started using it because its GMail notifier works with Google Apps for your Domain, which the Official GMail notifier doesn’t. (Weird.) They just added video chatting, twitter, and support for full-screen apps, so your IMs don’t crash your game. (Which sucks, trust me.) They’ve got some great skins for message windows and the popups look really cool. I know many folks have been turned off by some of the earlier bugs (If you can call not sending messages with no error notification a bug. I call it “not working.”), but they’ve sorted out most of the issues and continue to update and grow the feature set. Plus, it automatically updates each time you start the app, ensuring your client is always up-to-date. I definitely recommend it. Check it out.

Now this is awesome. Eye-Fi. It’s a 2GB SD card for your digital camera with built-in 802.11g wi-fi. It will automatically upload your pics to any one of dozens of supported services. Flickr, Smugmug, Wal-Mart. You name it, this things supports it. Best part is, it’s all automatic. You never have to take the card out of the camera. Zip. Zoom. Gone. Plus, it even works in a CF adapter for those of us whose DSLR’s are livin’ in the stone age. At $100, you just can’t beat it. I mean, I’ve still got Christmas pics on our 1GB CF. With the Eye-Fi, they’d be online AS I WAS SHOOTING THEM! Definitely going on my want list.
Ooh, I just thought of another great use. Family members who just can’t get the hang of online photo galleries. Shooting, copying, resizing, uploading. With the Eye-Fi, you could preconfig it for their home wi-fi network, pop it in their point-and-shoot and Boom! Internet magic. Wicked! You know, my father-in-law’s birthday is coming up.
